C.A.R. Red Alert for Members to Contact State Senators
Members Need to Act Now-Say No to ACA 13

C.A.R. OPPOSES ACA 13 (Ward), a proposed state constitutional amendment, that will significantly weaken the ability of California's voters to seek change through the initiative process by imposing a higher percentage of votes needed to approve citizen initiatives to amend the state constitution. C.A.R. opposes ACA 13 because it seeks to undermine Proposition 13 by making it easier for local governments to increase property taxes by reducing the vote threshold on taxes that are currently subject to a two-thirds vote. ACA 13 just passed the Assembly and could be considered by the entire Senate very soon. The Legislative session for the year ends next week so the proponents are trying hard to pass this now to get it on the March 2024 ballot.

Please look for an email from realtorparty@car.org with a subject line that includes, "Red Alert." Use that email to connect with your senator and urge them to vote NO on ACA 13. Do this even if you already took action when the measure was in the Assembly. This is our last chance to stop this dangerous attack on Prop 13 from appearing on the March 2024 ballot!
