State Farm and Allstate have announced they will no longer sell new home insurance policies in California because of wildfire risks and an increase in construction costs. Here are some facts:

1. State Farm and Allstate are not leaving the California Insurance Market:  State Farm and Allstate will continue to service and renew policies of existing clients in the state and will continue to offer new auto insurance policies. However, they will not be issuing any new property insurance policies for the time being in California.

On June 5, the San Diego County Local Agency Formation Commission will host an in-person hearing in which the Fallbook PUD and Rainbow MWD wholesaler reorganization proposal will be discussed. The proposal seeks to transfer wholesale water service from the San Diego County Water Authority to the Eastern Municipal Water District. This is expected to save Rainbow and Fallbrook PUD $7.6 million dollars per year. SDCWA has proposed raising rates 14% this year.

Growers in the Rainbow and Fallbrook regions are encouraged to attend the LAFCO hearing in person. If you are unable to attend in person, growers are encouraged to submit written comment supporting LAFCO staff recommendation Option One: "Approving Proposal with Standard Conditions".
