It’s looking like we’ll have an excellent crop for 2016. It’s still very early, but while out this week talking to growers and visiting an avocado grove along the central California coast, I spotted lots of avocados on the trees and they appear to be of good size and excellent quality already.

These avocados started growing in the early spring, and will stay on the tree for a few more months to mature. I think it’s pretty cool that avocados stay on the tree for 12 months or more while they go through their stages of growth. While maturing for the next few months they’ll continue to increase both in size and in oil content. They’re going to be yummy when they’re ready.
Until then, our growers will be tending to their groves and making sure their trees are happy. After all, those avocados are pretty special.
